OUR MISSION
SALT Collectiv is a diverse international community of volunteers uniting for the purpose of making a lasting imprint for the vulnerable and marginalized.
Just as salt is used to add flavor and preserve, our actions can be the seasoning and support for the forgotten. It all starts with a small step to make a difference and be the salt of the earth.
WHAT WE DO
Serving the homeless, orphans and elderly since 2017.

SALT Kitchen (Homeless Program)
Provide nutritious and delicious meals to the homeless on a consistent, bi-weekly basis, while involving volunteers and local partners to be hands-on and learn more about the SALT DNA of serving.

SALT Grain (Orphanage Program)
Provide companionship, life skills training, and mentorship to children in orphanages.

SALT-Ed (Educational Program)
Engage local international schools in service-learning, philanthropic awareness, and collaboration with SALT on initiatives and fundraising.

SALT ‘N FOUND (Advanced Homeless Program)
Provide nutritious bentos and essential supplies/services to the homeless on a consistent, monthly basis, while involving volunteers and local partners to go deeper in building relationships with the homeless in accordance with SALT’s mission to create lasting imprints.

SALT-Block (Incarcerated Program)
To extend love and dignity to incarcerated individuals—especially expats without family in Taiwan—by creating opportunities for meaningful social interaction, relaxation, and companionship.

SALT-Seasoned (Eldercare Program)
Objective: To bring warmth and connection to elderly residents through regular visits by volunteers and students, offering companionship and engaging group activities that foster joy and honor their dignity.
COMMUNITY WORK

#GIVINGTREETW
Our annual #GivingTreeTW campaign is about spreading the Christmas spirit to the underprivileged and marginalized of Taiwan: orphans, cancer & HIV kids, and mentally and physically handicapped.

FUN NIGHTS
Our FUNdraiser events bring the fun into building our community: trivia nights, F45 workout sessions, bake sales, and much more.

SALT DNA
SALT’s DNA revolves around a culture of giving. Giving is a muscle that needs consistent strengthening through action to create a lasting impact. Our goal is to build a community of #changemakers with that DNA to serve the community of the marginalized, whether it be the homeless, the orphaned, or the forgotten.
TESTIMONIALS

What moves me most about SALT is the way we come together-genuine souls, united by a shared purpose. Every event carries this beautiful synergy, an unspoken understanding that we are part of something greater than ourselves.Jenny Kuo

From the very first event, we were welcomed like we'd always been part of the SALT community. It immediately felt like home. My kids jumped right in–writing notes, packing bentos, and making friends from all over the world. Volunteering became something we could truly do together.Cindy Tong (and family)

At first, I sensed hesitation on both sides during SALT ’N Found, as people experiencing homelessness can be just as unsure about interacting as we are. But once we started talking, that fear faded. The people we met were kind, open, and full of stories. It was a reminder that we're all human, and we all want the same things: connection, kindness, dignity. What stood out most was how different the reality was from what we often see in the media...This experience shifted my perspective. The line between 'us' and 'them' isn't as big as it seems.Angelica Zung

Although I may have been intrigued and wanted to volunteer, I was hesitant at first, I felt like any “free time” I had should be spent being by myself rather than volunteering somewhere. 🙈 But with my husband’s encouragement, I went to one SALT Kitchen and have been committed to SALT ever since.Joanne Wu

Even as a small kid I always liked to help others. I am from a very small village back home, so I literally knew every person in the village. When I came to Taiwan, I had some extra time during the weekend, but I didn't know many people or know what to do. All I knew was that I wanted to help the community. After a while, I found you guys. 🙂Marko Koh

Thanks to SALT Collectiv for their generosity. In an age of material abundance, there are still young kids with simple wishes–a book, a pair of shoes, a watch. For these kids with disabilities, it makes them even happier that the volunteers at SALT Collectiv are willing to care enough to ask what they truly desire. A pair of shoes may be nothing to others, but in the eyes of these kids, it is precious, bountiful, and a gift of love.St. Raphael’s Opportunity Center

The first time I collaborated with SALT was as a vendor with SALT’s #GivingTreeTW 2021 Launch Event. The organization’s causes of assisting the homeless, orphans, and inmates really resonated with me. The event was rewarding and lots of fun! More importantly, I met more members of the SALT team who were very warm and friendly, and enjoyed volunteering with them.James Yen

The first time at the orphanage, the kids just sat there and observed us. I knew they were watching our intentions because they couldn’t fully trust us. But now, they run to me and call my name, grab my hands and share their life stories with me. Every time I volunteer, I am always the one who has been blessed more.Stella Lin

I initially reached out to SALT about my interest in the soup kitchen, but at the time the slots were full. However, they were gracious enough to hit me up about a week or so later about the monthly car wash that still had available slots. So, I jumped on the opportunity and signed up! No regrets since then 🙂Bernise Springer

I’ve always enjoy volunteering for non-profits to contribute to society. Having volunteered for SALT Collectiv’s car wash event 2 years ago has got me going back over and over again. From their #GivingTreeTW event to beach cleanups and the F45 collaboration, I’ve enjoyed them all. They have a great community and always welcome you with open arms! Stay salty!Eugene Cheng

The #GivingTreeTW enabled me to realize how blessed I am to have virtually everything I need or want and to be able to give back to those who are in need. Nothing beats the expressions of joy and gratitude from the people we helped. It was an experience I will forever cherish and something I would love to be part of again.Catherine Hsu

I sometimes think SALT Collectiv has given me more than I’ve given them. Through serving I’ve found community and friends, I’ve come to deeper appreciate Taiwan and started to understand its beautiful cultural complexities. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work alongside SALT Collectiv.Stacey Mattison

Even though I’m an introvert that isn’t socially adept, I’ve always felt welcomed in the SALT Collectiv community. They truly have a genuine desire to empower both volunteers and the marginalized by building a community up in love.Wendy Chen

Why do I like the SALT Kitchen? To me, it’s fun. I feel happy to work with a group of young, energetic people. We learn and grow, talk and laugh. We have fun. I feel younger! Saturday morning is my happy hour! To me, it’s also meaningful. Serving others makes life meaningful. When handing over the bentos to our friends of street (街友), we see their beautiful smile and hear their appreciations: “You take cake! Jesus loves you too!” We were touched, feeling life is worthwhile doing this service.Paul Feng
